professor wang wenxu: listed among the “most cited chinese researchers” for the 3rd year running

elsevier has announced its 2016 list of “most cited chinese researchers” recently. thirteen bnu teaching staff were included, among which professor wang wenxu from school of systems science has been listed in the field of “physics and astronomy” for the third consecutive year since 2014.

elsevier is the largest publisher of medical and other sciences worldwide. drawing its data from elsevier’s scopus research database, the 2016 list recognizes 1,744 most internationally influential researchers in china across 38 different subject areas such as social science, physics, chemistry, mathematics and economics.


in 2012, professor wang wenxu was selected into the 1000 young talent program from chinese government and joined school of systems science, beijing normal university. since then, he has published over 40 sci papers as corresponding author or first author in refereed journals including physics reports (if=22.12), nature communications, pnas, physical review letters, physical review x (if=8.70) and scientific reports (if=5.23). he was selected by elsevier into the 2014, 2015 and 2016 list of “most cited chinese researchers”. he has also presided over a key project of national natural science foundation and a project rewarded by the ministry of education with the first prize of the natural science. besides, he has so far published over 120 sci papers, among which seven have been cited for more than one hundred times, four are esi (1%) highly cited papers and eight are esi expanded (3%) highly cited papers. altogether his sci papers have been cited for over 3800 times. his current h-index is 35. now he is the director of the center for complexity science and serves as the editorial board member of sci. rep., royal soc. open sci., front. comput. sci.,et al. and is also the referee of more than 30 research journals, including nature communications, phys. rev. lett., etc..
