we invite applications for a postdoctoral research assistant
post, funded by epsrc, to work on
a project, mistral, led by professor jim hall freng at the university of
oxford, in collaboration with professor j. doyne farmer and the inet
research team. the successful candidate will be based in the institute for
new economic thinking. this is a 36 month fixed term position and is
available for an immediate start.
the goal of inet’s role in mistral is to develop agent-based modelling in
economics, with a particular emphasis on the spatial characteristic of
economic activity and the role of infrastructure in modifying the spatial
economy. the applicant will also participate in developing an open-source
agent-based modelling platform for economics, and do research in
complexity economics.
the successful applicant with be expected to have a doctorate in
economics, physics, mathematics, computer science, statistics, social
science, engineering, or other mathematical science together with
significant prior programming experience. the ability to work
independently with light supervision and commitment to tackling complex
economic modelling challenges, including the role of infrastructure in the
economy.
